Recapped processes your WhatsApp export entirely on your device. We don't collect, store, or transmit your chat data, and there is no server-side database. Your chat never leaves your device.
None. The app reads and analyzes your WhatsApp export locally on your device. The parsed messages, statistics, and any extracted media (photos, voice notes, videos, stickers) stay on your device only and are never uploaded to us or anyone else.
For the app to work, we save a small amount of data locally on your device (never on a server):
This data stays on your device and you can delete it at any time from Settings → Data, or by clearing the app's data / uninstalling the app.
The app loads Google Fonts for typography; Google may log this request as it does for any app or site that uses Google Fonts. No chat content is ever included in this request.
The free tier of the app displays ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use your device's Advertising ID to serve relevant ads and measure ad performance. This data is collected by Google, not by us, and is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of interest-based ads at any time in your device settings (Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads; iOS: Settings → Privacy → Tracking). Upgrading to Premium removes all ads and stops AdMob from running.
We do not use any other analytics, tracking, or third-party SDKs that collect personal data.
When you choose to share a result, the app opens your device's standard share sheet (or apps such as WhatsApp, Telegram, email, or SMS) with the content pre-filled. You decide what to send and to whom. We are not involved in the transmission.
Because we do not collect or store your personal data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side. All data is on your device and under your control. To remove it, use Settings → Data → Clear saved recaps, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app.
Recapped is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone.
If we update this policy, the "Last updated" date above will change and the new version will replace this one at the same address.
